Rahul Dravid, the coach of the Indian men’s cricket team, talked about how important it is for our team to have stronger batting. In cricket, batting means hitting the ball to score runs. He said our team needs to be better at this, like other top teams. We saw this problem when we played against West Indies recently. Even though Dravid said that the players in the T20I series are not the same as those for the World Cup, the worry about our batting remains the same.

In the fifth T20I game, Arshdeep Singh batted at number 8 for India. He didn’t get many chances to bat in international matches and he usually hits the ball slowly in the IPL games. Among the last four batters, Kuldeep Yadav is the most experienced. He has a better way of hitting the ball (strike rate) than Yuzvendra Chahal, who bats at number 10. These numbers don’t change much even when we talk about 50-over matches.

During the T20I games against West Indies, the players at the end of our batting order had to bat well twice out of five games. Except for a quick 12 runs by Arshdeep Singh in the first game, no one else did very well. This same problem happened in the previous ODI series. The players at the end had to bat in the second ODI, but they couldn’t do much.

“After India lost the fifth T20I game on Sunday, Dravid said that our team for the World Cup will be a bit different than the one we have now. The group of players we had here didn’t give us enough choices to change things around. For the future, we need to think about certain areas where we can improve.

One thing we’re trying to do is make our batting lineup stronger. We want to be as good as we can be. But we also need to make sure our bowling remains strong while making our batting lineup deeper. In recent games, the scores are getting higher and higher.

During the West Indies tour, we didn’t get the results we wanted in all three types of matches. We missed some good opportunities. Dravid is not happy with the final results, but he says we learned important lessons during the tour.”
